14 Bucket List Road Trips All Canadians Should Do Atleast Once

Oh Canada, our home and native land. We love you, so damn much, and all of your glory. From the mountains in B.C, to the plains in the prairies, the crashing waves of the Maritimes to the Northern Lights in The Northwest Territories, and of course - that great big CN Tower in the middle of it all.

Because you're so damn cute and we are so damn adventurous we'd like to go all the way with you, to see every last inch you have to offer. We'll load up the VW van with beers and friends and come right to you. Here are some of the most amazing road trips you should definitely put on your bucket list. 

West Coast

1. Sea to Sky Highway // Vancouver, B.C. 

Starting off in Vancouver is an easy way to go considering how fast the 99 moves and how gorgeous Howe Sound looks from way up here. Head towards Whistler to get to the next spot.  

2. Shannon Falls // Squamish, B.C. 

From the sea to sky highway, stop in Shannon Falls for a super memorable hike. Coined one of the best hike spots in Canada, it's sure to be the most scenic workout you ever do on home soil. 

3. Tofino, B.C. 

Tofino is ridiculously both beautiful and underrated. Head to Horseshoe Bay for the ferry to Nanaimo, then hit the Pacific Rim Highway for an amazing winding drive. 

4. The Icefields Parkway // Alberta 

The Icefields Parkway connecting Banff and Jasper National Parks, the Icefields Parkway (aka Highway 93) is one of the world’s most spectacular drives. 

5. Lake Louise, Alberta 

This is a MUST drive to spot from Calgary. Lake Louise is STUPID stunning for any nature lover. Explore The Columbia Icefield if you go in the winter and stay at a hotel with a lake view to avoid hating yourself. 

6. Spruce Woods Provincial Park // Manitoba 

Spruce Woods is deemed one of the best prairie road trips by National Geographic so you know it has to be great. These unique sand dunes bring major beach vibes to a little slice of plains.

1. Prince Edward County, Ontario 

If you're craving a slice of country, Prince Edward County really delivers. It promises vineyards, artisanal shops, and an amazing scenic drive along the Loyalist Parkway/Highway 33.

2. North Shore, Ontario

North Shore might be one of the smoothest drives you could ask for - making it great for biking if those happen to be on top of your car. Coast from Thunder Bay to Sault Saint Marie alongside one of the greatest of Great Lakes, Lake Superior. 

3. Eastern Townships, QB

About an hour east of Montreal, the Eastern Townships offer up a lot of easy, relaxed vibes. Like all great road trips, this blends history, culture and beautiful views. 

4. Niagara-on-the-Lake, ON 

One of the most picturesque spots in Ontario hands down, Niagara-on-the-lake is our go to for wine, shopping and adorable eats. 

5. Stratford, ON

Known for more than just Justin Bieber, Stratford has lots of things to do and see - like great theatre, a nice waterfront and little shops.

1. Viking Trail, Newfoundland

If anything gives of Game of Thrones vibes, it's the Viking Trail. It's themed, therefore there are tons of cool nordic architectural pieces along the way. 

2. St. John River // New Brunswick 

New Brunswick is made for road trips, especially the beautiful town of St.John River. Pop into Fredricton while you're on the way down and enjoy these incredibly coloured buildings. 

3. Cape Breton, Nova Scotia 

This is one of the most notable drives in Canada. Striking highland scenery, vast ocean views, and an eclectic mix of culture makes this a must-see. 

4. Trans-Labrador Highway, Newfoundland

The Trans-Labrador Highway is an adventure just along the coast. This drive is allegedly very bumpy so please bring an extra tire along.
