Ontario has some towns that are so pretty, they look like they came straight out of a fairytale. Whether you're looking for a quick weekend getaway from the city or are just curious to discover the beauty our province has to offer, a retreat to one of Ontario's cozy towns will do the trick.

Here are 14 of the prettiest towns you can visit in Ontario:


Brockville is a gorgeous town located along the St. Lawrence river in the heart of the 1000 Islands. Charming buildings, picturesque views of the waterfront and a vibrant community culture make this town a perfect place to escape the city.


Stratford is most famously known for being the site of North America's largest classical repertory theatre festival. But it's more than just a premier arts town - there's tons to explore, from cute restaurants and boutiques to stunning parks and gardens.


Perth is brimming with charm and heritage. Its vintage buildings and heritage sites are indicative of its rich arts and history culture, It also holds several festivals and events all year around, so there's always something fun going on in the town.


Niagara-on-the-Lake is an hour and 40-minute drive from Toronto, and it's well worth the trip. Its a town of beautiful shops, exciting events (such as the acclaimed Shaw festival), and all the wineries you could ever want!

The Blue Mountains

The Blue Mountains is located in Grey County, where the Beaver River flows into Nottawasaga Bay. The most notable point of interest in this town is the Blue Mountain ski resort; however, there's much more to see than just that, like the beautiful Bruce Trail, Thornbury harbour and Scenic Caves!

Port Colborne

Port Colborne sits on the north shores of the glorious Lake Erie. It features several white sand beaches, a spectacular marina, and all the wonder that the Niagara Region could possibly offer.


Gananoque is known for being one of the most stunning waterfront communities in Eastern Ontario. Breathtaking natural landscapes, quaint shops and lots of outdoor activities await you in this little pocket of beauty in the heart of the 1000 Islands.

Port Dover

Port Dover is has a strong tourism industry, and for good reason. Beautiful beaches, fun festivals and a variety of historical sites are available for visitors to indulge in. The community holds events all year round, so there's never a dull moment!


Merrickville was once acknowledged as the Canada's most beautiful village by Communities in Bloom in 1998. Along its streets are heritage buildings, specialty boutiques and cozy restaurants. The town is also a hub for creative artists.

St. Marys

St. Mary's is known as "The Stone Town" due to its abundance of amazing 19th-century limestone buildings and homes. Its rich history is preserved in gorgeous churches, museums and architecture that line its streets.


Westport sits on the west end of Upper Rideau Lake, which makes it an excellent location for water activities such as boating, paddling and swimming. Accommodations, restaurants, shops, golf courses, marinas and more can be found here.


Penetanguishene is coined the "Gateway to Georgian Bay". There are several cultural attractions within the town, as well as parks, trails and open spaces for adventurers to explore in the surrounding area.


Kleinburg is a quaint town brimming with lots of romantic character. It is riddled with spas, lively restaurants and cute boutiques - all of which make for a relaxing, leisurely visit.


Unionville's bars, restaurants and shops add a modern flair to its old world charm. They can all be found along its historic Main Street, which is always bustling with events and celebrations.
