15 Struggles All Commuters Will Understand

It's a love/hate relationship (mostly hate).

The commuting life is never easy.

Just imagine it: one day you sit on the subway or train and you think everything is going okay. The train's moving, it's a sunny day, everything seems great. All of the sudden the train stops and the infamous voice says "Hello passengers, this train has come to a complete stop due to signal errors. We will inform you when you have more information." UGH REALLY?!

Basically the day in the life of a commuter: some days it's a smooth ride, some days it feels like everything is going to sh*t and nothing is going to get better. Commuting is just one of those things that can either keep your mood level, or just ruin your whole day. There's no in between.

No matter what distance you're travelling to come downtown, go to school or work, guaranteed we all go through the same struggles:

1.Hearing someone who is not a go-train frequent say "Wow this go train cart looks so nice".

Okay I get that the front cart looks nice but everything else is not cute...just saying...

2.The train/subway stopping in the middle of your commute and hearing the announcer say that there's a delay.

No really, it's fine. It's not like I have anywhere to go.

3. When the go-train announcer says to take your feet off the seat.

I'm not moving them unless someone physically pays me to take them off.

4.That one person who tells you to be quiet in the 'quiet zone' when you haven't said anything.

I'll just stop breathing then...will that be quiet enough for you?

5.Running into Batman or Spiderman on the subway constantly.

This surprisingly isn't an odd occurrence in the 6ix.

6.When people start rushing on to the subway before you can get off.

I got places to be people.

7.When you see the 5pm rush getting on the subway.

All hands on deck people, get prepared to have your stomach pressed against someone else's ribcage for 30 minutes.

8. The snow making your commute 10x longer than it has to be.

And you know if you go to Ryerson, your chances of getting a snow day are slim to none.

9.You're either super early or super late all the time.

And it's probably not your fault either.

10. When you see someone on the subway/go train that you know but you don't feel like talking to them your whole way home.

*Casually types random words into the notes on my phone in hopes that they don't see me/avoid me since i'm clearly busy*

11.Trying not to fall on the subway when you're standing and have nothing to hold on to.

TTC: 1 - You: 0

12.When someone won't move their bag off the seat so you can sit down.

13. When someone gets mad that your bag is on the seat next to you.

My bag is tired too okay?

14.When someone stops in front of the TTC entrance to find their presto, metro pass, or token.

You didn't think to pull it out before hand? Never came across your mind?

15.When your prof says that "A reason for being late to class due to train/subway delays is not a legit excuse."

Well, then...I guess I'm out...
