It's no secret that Toronto is the city to be for live music and performances. On any given night of the week you can pull your smartphone out of your pocket and find a show to catch in the city.

October is no exception. There are so many great shows headed to our glorious city this month, ranging from a Jo Bro to a Canadian comedy legend to a Gossip Girl star turned rockstar, Have I captured your interest yet?

Constantines

Why you're going: This band is homegrown Canadian talent, having formed in Guelph. While they haven't released a new album in awhile they are still very well received on tour, especially in their homeland. They are out on tour right now to celebrate the upcoming 11th anniversary of their album Shine a Light.

BANKS

Why you're going: BANKS is definitely one to watch. She toured in the Fall of 2013 with The Weeknd and her song 'Waiting Game' caught a lot of attention when it was featured in the always anticipated Victoria's Secret Holiday commercial in 2013. She was prominent on the summer festival circuit and is now touring in support of her debut full length studio album Goddess.

Why you're going: Give into your guilty pleasures and catch the very grown up Nick Jonas on his solo tour when he comes to Toronto this month. Seriously, did you ever imagine a world where you could pay just 30 bucks to see a Jonas Brother? His new song 'Jealous' is kinda catchy but he's also super pretty to look at and at such a super cool but also small venue like Lee's Palace maybe you'll even get to meet the Jo Bro.

Jason Mraz

Why you're going: His 2009 hit 'I'm Yours' was stuck in everyones head for weeks, if not months and his album Love is a Four Letter Word got him a ton of attention but he is now on tour in support of his new album Yes! He plays two shows at the beautiful and historic Massey Hall, surely you can make one of the two :)

Russell Peters

Why you're going: Russell Peters is like a canadian comedy legend! While the ACC may seem like a huge venue for a comedy show we don't doubt that he will fill the place up with his contagious energy and tons of laughs. We can't wait to hear what he has to say this time around.

Why you're going: She has been on the rise since partnering up with Iggy Azalea on the track 'Fancy' and singing the hit summer song 'Boom Clap' from the soundtrack to one of the summer's most anticipated films The Fault in Our Stars- it was, in many ways, the summer of Charli XCX. Now is your chance to catch her in a nice intimate venue before she blows up even bigger.

You Me At Six

Why you're going: They're a British pop rock band and kind of total heartthrobs so why wouldn't you be going? No but in all seriousness, the band say their biggest influences are bands like Blink-182 and you get that vibe from their music. If you've never heard of them, check them out for under 20 bucks and if you're a die hard fan you can pay just $55 for meet and greet!

Bastille

Why you're going: Bastille shot to fame last year with their hit song 'Pompeii' and saw great international success because of it. They performed on SNL in January of 2014 and announced that they had begun work on their second album. Since you've already heard 'Pompeii' a bajillion and 1 times check them out at the ACC this month to discover that they really do have a lot to offer.

Placebo

Why you're going: English rock band Placebo offer a somewhat new take on the rock genre by also incorporating elements of punk and grunge. They've been noted as singing a lot about drugs and controversial issues of LGBT rights. They deem themselves a band of outsiders for outsiders.

Big Wreck

Why you're going: Canadian rock band, Big Wreck have been around for awhile but in October they play, not one, but two shows at the Danforth in support of their latest album Ghosts which has garnered a lot of good reaction. Whether you've always known about them or never heard of them, check em out live this month!

Streetlight Manifesto

Why you're going: They have trumpets, they have trombones and they have saxophones! After spending about a year in an intense battle with their prior record company, Streetlight Manifesto have been beaming about the announcement of their latest tour. The band says these shows will be the only non-festival shows they play in 2014 so what are ya waiting for? GET A TICKET

Mayday Parade

Why you're going: If you're a fan of bands like All Time Low and The Maine chances are you've already heard of Mayday Parade or may have even seen them live as an opening act, catch them this month in Toronto as headliners on 'The Honeymoon Tour'

Lights

Genre: Pop

Date: October 26th & 27th

Why you're going: Canadian born Lights is coming back after baby stronger than ever. With a new adorable baby girl and a fun, fresh sound, Lights is killing it. Her latest album Little Machines was released on September 23rd and celebrated in Toronto with an intimate album release party/show, so if you missed that, or even if you didn't, do yourself a favour and snatch tickets to one of her October shows!

The Pretty Reckless

Why you're going: Jenny has officially left the Upper East Side ladies & gentz. While Taylor Momsen left Gossip Girl awhile ago it is still hard to shake pre-conceived notions about her but the truth is, girl is talented. Together with a band of three guys, Ben Phillips, Mark Damon and Jamie Perkins, Momsen puts on a pretty freakin' killer rock show.

Why you're going: Jordan Mark Witzigreuter, known by his stage name The Ready Set is most commonly known for the success of his 2010 single 'Love Like Woe' that got stuck in everyone's head. He is playing the Phoenix alongside Metro Station in support of his latest EP The Celebrity EP.

SBTRKT

Why you're going: Pronounced like 'Subtract', SBTRKT frequently collaborates with the incredible voice of Sampha. Led by one dude, SBTRKT, likes to create an image of anonymity behind their music and so he often rocks these really cool Native USA tribal headpieces and masks. In addition to his rad singles he has also remixed some M.I.A and Radiohead songs. This one will definitely be a killer party.

Canada's October Weather Forecast Just Dropped & Look Away Now If You Live In BC

B.C. is the only part of Canada where temperatures will be below seasonal. 🥶

The Weather Network has called for unseasonably warm October temperatures throughout Canada, that is except in B.C.

After detailing that weather across the provinces is expected to be generally warmer than normal, The Weather Network noted that the area of B.C. and Yukon "is the one part of Canada where we do not expect above normal temperatures during October."
