21 Awesome Summer Trends And Where You Can Get Them

While most fashionistas would argue that fall is the best dressing weather, Toronto summers can definitely compete. After several months of gruelling conditions - from snow and sleet to rain and hail - Canada is graced with some co-operative weather for a short, but sweet, few months.

Summer is the perfect opportunity to show the world what it's been missing under drab parkas, hoodies and layer upon layer. The heat is here, and so are you. Cute, collected and ready as ever.

Picking the perfect ensemble can be stressful, but it doesn't have to be. With a few A-1 pieces from the seasons hottest trends, your summer wardrobe will get just what it needs for you to look and feel your best.

1. A great vintage band tee

I don't know whether to credit Kanye or Bieber for the resurgence of the classic band tee. Nirvana, Metallica, and Guns N' Roses have all been popular pics among the stars, though it's not hard to see why. A great graphic tee goes with relatively anything, for a relaxed, edgy look; whether it's your go-to ripped skinnies, or a tight leather mini. This one from Missguided isn't technically a band tee, but still gives off the same vibe. This Metallica tee from Urban Outfitters would look great with some leather leggings & strappy sandals.

2. Shredded denim

Ripped jeans with holes at the knees have had their time. Really shredded, distressed pairs take rips to the next level, and add instant edge. These black sliced jeans can go from your backyard to the bar when paired with a tight fitting top & heels. Whereas these hacked-up blue jeans channel major Kim K off-duty vibes.

3. Bodysuits

They're not just for gymnasts anymore. Bodysuits are an addition you definitely need in your wardrobe. When everything is high-waisted nowadays, tucked shirts in can look sloppy or add bulk. Bodysuits allow a stream-lined image, that makes you look much more put together. This classic off the shoulder black number screams Grease Lightning, especially with the leather trousers. Whereas this mesh short-sleeve body from Asos is just as sexy and tastefully risque - perfect for showing off a lace bralette. This strappy red one is beautiful for a pop of colour, with choker-like neck detailing.

4. Off the shoulder tops

Pop those collarbones girl. The décolletage is known universally to be one of the sexiest areas on the female body. It's super flattering, highlighting your neck and shoulders, while often hiding more troublesome arm and tummy bits. This white top from ASOS is great for lunch with the girls, while this flirty light pink would make any date swoon.

5. Silk bombers

Long live the bomber jacket. They dominated this fall -coating the streets in black and khaki - but they are back and better than ever for summer. Made light and thin, they're just the thing you need for brisk mornings and balmy summer nights. This amazing one from ASOS looks like it's straight off the catwalk - not unlike this one from Urban Outfitters, with blue and white panelling for that athleti-chic look.

6. Denim on denim

The Canadian tuxedo - it's not just for dads and truckers, ladies. Denim on denim can revive unworn jeans from the grave. You can try going for the same wash, like the model above in this off the shoulder denim top, or mix and match for a more complex look. A relaxed, button-up boyfriend shirt like this one is a great base for any outfit, where you're double denim-ing or not.

7. Midi dresses

Midi is the new maxi. Elegant & super easy for more formal occasions and classier clubs. Midi's help to elongate the shape of your body, making your calves and shoulders pop. This white one by Missguided is super glam with its mesh detailing and this nude ribbed dress from Asos has amazing open-back detailing.

8. Bandanas

Around your neck - not your head. A very key concept in getting the look. Bandanas can give a Parisian, rock, or Vogue-esque look depending the way you style them. Try red like this one for some French flare, or this black one for something a little more sub-dued.

9. One-piece swimsuits

Summer fashion doesn't exclude swim!! Triangl bikinis were cute last year, but this summer it's all about the one piece. It's sophisticated, easy and allows you to eat a couple more tacos than a bikini would. This deep-v'd black suit is definitely not your mama's one piece, and this white backless suit isn't hers either.

10. Statement sunnies

Sunglasses are always in style - even on cloudy days, so it makes sense if you wanna splurge on a pair for all seasons. These clear cat-eyes by Fendi go with any outfit or look, and will last you the test of time with their high quality. But if you're looking for more of a budget-friendly option, these flat topped tortoise shell shades look just like Célines - but are only $13.
