If you're a Toronto sports fan, chances are you had a good night last night. That's because six major sports teams from the 6ix won big last night. That' right, not one, not two, but six Toronto sports teams won last night in a record-breaking victory.
The biggest two wins arguably were in hockey and basketball, where both the Maple Leafs and the Raptors are in the middle of playoff runs. Fortunately, both those teams won last night in close victories. The Maple Leafs beat the Boston Bruins 2-1 while the Raptors beat the Orlando Magic 98-93.
Then the Toronto Blue Jays also managed to score a win, although it's still early in their season. Nonetheless, a win is a win and they managed to beat the Oakland Athletics 5-1 last night.
It was a good night for soccer last night too, with the Toronto Football Club (TFC) also claiming the victory. They beat Minnesota 4-3.
Those four wins from the major Toronto teams alone were enough to clinch the record. Last night was the first time ever that all four of those teams won on one night. Toronto athletes didn't stop there though, two other major teams went on to claim big wins too.
The Toronto Marlies, our American Hockey League team also managed to claim a win last night, beating the Rochester Americans 4-1 in their first playoff game for the Calder Cup.
Finally, the sixth Toronto team to claim a victory last night was the Toronto Wolfpack, our rugby team. They beat the Barrow Raiders 52-26.
An even bigger coincidence is that of those six teams, five of those teams were playing away games when they won, except for TFC who played at BMO Field.*
It also helps that it appears Drake was nowhere to be found at any of those games, so the Drake Curse has officially been lifted!
