Many people view golfing as a way of life. They live it, they love it and they cherish it. By playing golf you're able to enjoy the peacefulness and beauty of nature, escape from the city and relax in a luscious green environment.

There are several public and private golf clubs in the GTA ( we'll focus on public clubs) to challenge your skills or simply play a game for fun. Whether you're a beginner, intermediate or advanced player here's a list of 9 awesome golf courses in the GTA you should play at this summer:

1. Eagles Nest // 10000 Dufferin St.

Eagles Nest is an 18 hole public golf course has a spectacular layout, with a beautiful balance between design and nature. They offer several packages that will accommodate you schedule and finances. Eagles Nest has a variety of courses suitable for all golfers from beginners to experts to explore across its 7,467 yards.

2. The National // 134 Clubhouse Rd, Woodbridge.

The National is known as the top private golf club in Canada, therefore it is one to be mentioned on this list.It's considered to be one of the most challenging courses in Canada, with 18 holes occupying in total approximately 7235 yards. You have to work really hard in order to play on this lush green private course.

3. Markland Wood Golf Course // 245 Markland Dr, Toronto.

Markland Wood provides the ultimate relaxing golf experience to all attendees. The atmosphere in Etobicoke Creek comes into play on 13/18 holes that are walkable distance, with a 170 yards of total space. Markland Wood is only located 15 minutes away from the downtown core and is accessible from the 401, 427 and QEW. A membership is required, check their website for more details.

4. Osprey Valley // 18821 Main St, Caledon.

Osprey Valley is open to the public, that features 18 holes for each of the three courses on land. Heathlands presents more classic golf, the Hoot design is more narrow with ravishing green sites and Bunkering is kept to a minimum.

5. Copper Creek // 11191 Hwy 27, Kleinburg.

Located just north of Toronto, the Copper Creek course can be completed in 4 1/2 hours. The course lies at the beautiful Humber River Valley with a design from 7,097 yards at the tips to 5,271 yards at the forward tees.

6. Angus Glen // 10080 Kennedy Rd, Markham.

This 36- holes public golf site has two 18-hole championship courses. It's a popular public and corporate tournament facility that hosts several prestige golf events, playing out on a traditional parkland layout with 108 bunkers.

7. Piper's Heath // 5501 Trafalgar Rd, Milton.

Piper's Heath has a walkable 5,200 to 7,054 yard golf course, with a par 72 layout. There's a 20-acre double-ended practice academy that has a large two-tiered tee deck and another teeing area approximately 350 yards away set for private lessons.

8. Glen Abbey // 1333 Dorval Dr, Oakville

Glen Abbey welcomes public golfers to enjoy the 7,091 - yard, pay 72 layout. There are plenty of elevation change as well as raised tee decks providing a spectacular view of the luscious greenland. Fun fact? Tiger Woods had his famous 18th hole bunker shot across the water at the 2000 Canadian Open at Glen Abbey.

9. Don Valley // 4200 Yonge St.

Don Valley has amazing deals with reasonable prices for an awesome golfing experience. There are five courses to choose from, accommodating all levels and ages. It's located near the city, therefore you can save some gas money and ride to rocket to this course. The course gets really busy, therefore it's important to book an early tee time.
