A 1,200-km Bike Trail That Runs From Canada To New York City Will Open In 2020
Prepare yourself for coolest bike ride of your life - a 1,200-km bike trail that runs from Canada to New York City is anticipated for completion by 2020.

According to New York's government website, the state has plans to become a major bike touring hub as a way to invest and build infrastructure to support its economy. Governor Andrew Cuomo announced earlier this year that the Empire State Trail will be one of his ongoing projects for the state. This would involve the development of 560 km of multi-use path connecting the Hudson River Valley Greenway and Erie Canalway trails with New York State Bike Route 9.
The final result would be the largest multi-use trail in the United States, running from New York City up to the Canadian border by Buffalo.
Cuomo had this to say about the project:
“The scenic natural beauty that spans every corner of this state is key to our prosperity, vital to our future and part of who we are as New Yorkers," Governor Cuomo said. “The Empire State Trail, once completed, will be the nation’s largest state multi-use trail network, providing residents and visitors alike unprecedented access to New York's outdoor treasures, driving tourism and economic activity to communities across the state and helping to protect our environmental resources for generations to come.”
The trail is expected to be completed by 2020, with 70 per cent of it being off-road.
