An investigation of a fatal accident in the downtown core is giving residents a glimpse into the future of Toronto Police work today. Police officers were spotted flying drones near Bloor Street East and Sherbourne Street on Friday morning, following a collision in which one pedestrian was killed.
A senior woman was struck by a TTC Bus near St. James Town at around 6:30 AM this morning. The bus was making its way east on Bloor Street when it collided with the pedestrian at the Sherbourne intersection.
According to TPS Traffic Services, the drones are being used to help map out the site of the accident. In the brief clip, the drones are operated by a remote, while the mapping appears to be digitally transferred to what looks to be an iPad.

According to CP24, it was initially reported that the woman had survived the accident and rushed to a nearby hospital in critical condition. However, it was later revealed that she had been pronounced dead on arrival at the hospital.
Toronto Police Operations report that several roads in the area were closed as a result of the accident. Other details regarding the exact specifics crash have yet to be released by authorities.
“We know the TTC bus was travelling eastbound on Bloor Street, and it was somehow involved in the collision with the woman, but we don’t know how or at what stage the bus got involved. That is part of the active investigation that is ongoing,” Sgt. Brett Moore explained to reporters on scene according to CP24.

"Collision reconstruction officers are here mapping the scene and collecting any evidence they can. We also have officers doing an initial canvass, looking for witnesses and following up on folks that did call 911."
According to Moore, footage of the accident was captured by the TTC vehicle’s dashcam which officers will be reviewing. More details are expected to come in as the investigation continues to unfold.
