A Man From The US Actually Floated To Canada On An Air Mattress

Here's a peculiar story for you - a young American man from Maine was caught using an air mattress to illegally travel across the St. Croix River to New Brunswick.

The 25-year-old "floater", John Bennett, claimed that he did it because he was worried for his pregnant Canadian girlfriend. She had an ex-boyfriend who was threatening her safety and he felt the need to go to Canada to protect her. He attempted to cross the border earlier this week by road, but was denied entrance by Canadian customs officers because he had mischief charges under his name.

He has been sentenced to two months in jail for his actions. He bought the air mattress from Walmart.
