A Pothole On The Gardiner Expressway Was Wreaking Havoc On Vehicles This Morning (VIDEO)
A bunch of city drivers learned a hard lesson about Toronto potholes on Monday. According to City News, at least 12 vehicles were damaged due to a large pothole on the eastbound Gardiner Expressway at Jarvis St. during their morning commutes.
The hole, which was discovered on Monday, was located in the right lane.
While potholes are usually just minor inconveniences, these drivers were in for a surprise this morning as some vehicles were reportedly damaged so severely by the hole that they had to be towed away.
A video later showed the aftermath of a truck, which was damaged by the hole.
In the clip, the rubber of one the vehicle's back tires appears to have been ripped clean off by the incident.
The ramp lanes were initially closed in the area. However, crews have since fixed the problem and re-opened them. Thankfully, no injuries have been reported.
Last year, local drivers attempted to reach out to city officials via Twitter in order to bring their attention to the city’s pothole problem.
Andrew Bartucci, a driver whose vehicle was totalled by a pothole located near Church and Dundas, claimed he had to pay nearly $3,000 to fix his car after a large one blew out two of his tires.

The City of Toronto annually spends around $4 million on pothole repair and the holes are fixed usually within four working days after authorities are notified of them.
City crews had already repaired about 12,000 of them by February 2019.

However, they often make exceptions if the complaints about the hole indicate that it is located on an expressway or a significant roadway due to the high volume of traffic at higher speeds.
However, it's not just potholes that drivers need to be cautious of this week. GTA drivers are also being warned of Monday morning’s messy weather conditions.
A combination of strong winds and snow flurries are expected to make commuting difficult this morning with conditions not set to improve until later this week.
