An Ontario Resident Is $55 Million Richer After A Massive Lottery Win Last Night

Winning the lottery is undoubtedly life-changing. For instance, an Ontario resident is $55 million richer after a massive lottery win last night. OLG reports that there was one winning ticket of yesterdays huge $55 million Lotto Max jackpot draw. This means someone out there is about to have their world completely changed.

The winner has not come forward yet, so OLG has not yet released the name of the winner, but they are able to determine based on the numbers that the Lotto Max winning ticket is out there and it was sold in Oshawa, Ontario. Last night the winning numbers were also publicly announced. They are 1, 2, 16, 21, 23, 25 & 28, with Bonus 48. In announcing the win this morning they are telling all Ontarians who played to check their tickets because someone is about to come into a lot of money.

While they are waiting on someone to claim the massive prize, there were two other prizes claimed after last night's draw as well. Two other Ontario residents also took home prizes of $1 million each for the MaxMillion bonus draw and an Encore ticket. They were from Toronto and St Thomas, respectively.

As for the big $55 million prize, it's actually the biggest lotto win in all of Ontario this past month. Every time there is a big winner, which is classified as anything over $10,000, OLG publishes the amount won, the name of the winner, and the type of ticket they were playing.

So far in the past month, there have been lots of prizes won around the $100,000 or even $1,000,000 mark, which is impressive but compared to last night's win it's not a lot at all. There have only been two other wins that even come close.

Back on March 20, two different Ontarians won $11 million in the 6/49 draws. The first was Doreen Fleury of McDougall and the second was Derek Francis of Belle Ewart. While there wins are undoubtedly life-changing, they are still only one-fifth of what last night's winner will walk away with.

The winner of last night's draw has one year to claim the prize. Due to the size of the prize, they must do so at an OLG prize centre where they will be required to show the ticket and government ID.
