Auston Matthews received the honour of a lifetime on Wednesday night in Las Vegas. The Leafs' star was revealed as the new cover athlete for EA Sport's NHL 20 during the 2019 NHL Awards. Auston Matthews is now the first Toronto player to ever appear on the cover of the long-running hockey video game. It was a magical night, except for the fact that he could not stop sweating.

The night seem to be going perfectly. Fans were pumped about the new cover, Matthews strutted out on stage looking suave in a patterned suit ready to celebrate... and then came the pit-stains. The Leafs' star wasn’t just sweating a little bit.

He was sweating enough to soak through both his shirt and his suit jacket; and his perspiration completely stole his thunder. It was hard to look away, and it was even harder to pay attention to anything that he was saying.

Twitter, of course, had a field day with Matthews' awkward moment. Users pretty much ignored the cover and instead put all their attention on the player’s sweatiness. You have to feel for Matthew’s though – I mean it’s not his fault he can’t take that Vegas heat!

After announcing Matthews as the face of NHL 20, EA revealed a new trailer for the game, which looks amazing. Check it out for yourself below!

“The cutting-edge Real Player Motion Tech continues to evolve the way that gamers showcase their mastery,” a statement from EA Sports about NHL 20 reads, according to Sportsnet.

“This year’s gameplay introduces Signature Shots that replicate the most recognizable shot styles of the biggest NHL stars, including P.K. Subban’s booming slapshot wind-up, Auston Matthews’ half toe-drag wrist shot, and Alex Ovechkin’s seamless one-timer.”

NHL 20 is set to be released worldwide on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One on September 13 this year. Pre-order for the “Deluxe” and “Ultimate” editions of the game is scheduled for a release on September 10.
