Picture this, you've stepped into another world, right into a beautiful garden oasis surrounded by trees, rustic architecture, and small but bright sparkling lights illuminating the sky above you. If that's the case, you seemed to have found Bar Poet Toronto. As poetic as it may sound, this spot has the perfect night time vibe to escape from the busy life of the 6ix.
Located right on Queen Street and Dovercourt Road, this enchanting venue walks the line between under-the-stars green garden vibes and a European-like fairytale hideout.
Although the joint stands out amongst the rest on the street, what's hidden inside is what really takes people's breath away.
"The most mesmerizing feature for most would have to be trees strung with fairy lights," says Bar Poet's bar manager, Monique Godinho.
"With the awning, it gives the illusion of being outdoors on a patio on a warm summer night & who doesn't dream of warmer days with friends?"
The massive indoor trees are the first thing you'd see walking into the bar. Sat beneath them, it's easy to feel like you've found a true hidden gem.
The natural elements definitely contribute to the rustic, outdoor theme, and a blue and white striped awning covered in fairy lights decorates the bar, adding to the Euro feel.
The grub isn't bad, either.
Whether you'd like to try their signature drinks or take a bite out of their stone oven-styled $10 pizzas, you'll be sure to lose track of the time.
They have a full page on their menu dedicated to different styled pizzas, any kind for any craving.
"When it comes to food, the Hot Rod Pepperoni Pizza is easily the best seller," says Godinho. "It's our version of classic pepperoni pizza drizzled with hot honey for some extra goodness."
She also lists the "Life Gucci" pizza as another favourite. That one's covered in white sauce, mortadella, and pistachios.
To add to the dark, chill vibe, you can enjoy music from DJs every night of the week, at times playing old school '90s hits, and RnB.
So, if you're looking for a last-minute, late-night adventure, Bar Poet is open every day from noon to 2 a.m., serving food into the late hours of the night.
The bar also has an old-school skeeball machine and unlimited arcade games downstairs that you and your crew can enjoy.
It might be time to add this place to your list of hidden bars to discover in the 6ix.
Or if you're looking for a Valentine's Day date idea, something more chill and intimate, you might want to take a chance to check it out.
Even if you're just looking for a unique spot to jazz up your Instagram, we don't blame you. This place was clearly meant for it.
