Canada's rising tennis star has no plans to slow down. Bianca Andreescu defeated Serena Williams in the US Open earlier this month and she’s enjoyed the glory that came with it. Now, she is determined to keep that momentum going as she returns to the court at the WTA Premier event in Beijing.

“I’m coming off a big win, but that’s only going to give me momentum and confidence going into Beijing,” Andreescu told the Montreal Gazette while finishing up a week of training at Tennis Canada’s National Training Centre. “I’ll have another good week of training next week (in China) so I’m feeling good.” Andreescu shared her arrival in Beijing with her 642k Instagram followers early on Wednesday morning.

Sportsnet reported that Andreescu initially planned to play in Osaka, Japan last week, then in China. However, her two-week run in New York and the mayhem that followed her win forced the young star to change her plans.

Andreescu was greeted with rallies in her honour and pandemonium when she returned to Canada fresh off her historic win. The Mississauga native was presented with the key to her hometown, got DM’d by Drake, and even met the prime minister. It would be hard for anyone to train while all that is going on.

Andreescu is also nursing a shoulder injury which kept her off the court this year. Of course, it's an injury that the 19-year-old tennis champ doesn’t want to be repeated.

“I felt I did play a lot of tennis at the beginning of the year and it accumulated, especially after (winning) at Indian Wells,” said Andreescu. “Maybe I shouldn’t have played Miami, but when you’re coming off a win, you want to keep going. I felt okay, but it was getting worse in Miami.”

Bianca’s coach Sylvain Bruneau recently told CBC that she hopes to qualify for the season-ending WTA Finals on October 27 in Shenzhen, China.
