Torontonians who grew up on early 2000's pop-punk are in for a treat this summer. Genre heroes Blink-182 and Simple Plan are joining forces to bring the sweet sounds of teen angst to the Budweiser stage this summer. You can almost hear the sound of a thousand Chuck Taylors being laced up for one last hurrah. The Blink-182 and Simple Plan Toronto show has officially been set for July 7th.

The tour is currently being promoted as punk meets rap act. Blink-182 is teaming up with rapper Lil Wayne for a handful of North American dates. However, Lil Wayne bailed out of the Toronto appearance and left a void that only another iconic early-2000’s band could fill, which is where everyone’s favourite Canadian-based pop-rockers come in.

Those looking for a taste of what the Blink and Lil Wayne show would’ve been like should check out their pair’s mashup performance of their hits “What’s My Age Again” and “A Milli".

The mashup is definitely a brave step forward for both artists, and it's bummer to see that Lil Wayne couldn't make his way to the 6ix. However, pop-punk purists will no doubt be pleased to know that their beloved heyday bands will be kicking it old school for the Toronto show.

Blink 182 and Simple Plan even have some history. Mark Hoppus, Blink's bass player and singer lent his vocal talents to the classic Simple Plan tune "I'd Do Anything" and even interviewed the band during his brief stint as a talk show host on Fuse TV.

Blink 182 experienced rejuvenated success following the release of California in 2016, which launched the band into the mainstream. They are also currently working on a new album. Simple Plan hasn't released new music since 2016, with their last record Taking One For The Teamreaching number 4 on the Canadian album charts.

According to Ticketmaster, tickets for the concert go on sale to the general public on May 10th at 12:00 pm.
