Canadian Geese Keep Getting Shot By Arrows In This Ontario City
Canadian geese, although sometimes annoying and vicious, are a key symbol of our nationality. Yet, it turns out that one Ontarian doesn't think so. Earlier this week, London Police responded to an incident where a Canadian goose was found shot with an arrow in a park. What's really baffling about this case, is that this isn't the first time this has happened in this Ontario city.
At around 11:20 AM this Sunday, a London Police Foot Patrol officer was strolling the biking paths in Gibbson Park near Grosvenor Street when they spotted something out of the ordinary. Upon closer investigation, the officer located a goose that had been shot by an arrow.
In a London Police news release, it states that the officer was quick to contact the London Animal Care Centre and the goose was taken in for treatment. So far, the London Police have not released an update on the well-being of the goose.
However, what's more concerning about this incident, is that it is the second time that a goose has been shot by an arrow in 2019. A couple of months ago, in mid-January, a very similar incident took place.

According to police reports, on January 17, police responded to a call about a goose that had been shot by an arrow in Springbank Park. The goose was taken by an animal rescue agency and the arrow was removed.
Const. Jessica Kalita reached out to CBC News about the issue, "This is the second incident of this type. We want people to stay cognizant in the parks and paths. If you see anything you deem suspicious, call London police or Crime Stoppers with information,".
Yet Kalita also stated that the public should not be concerned for their own safety. The incident is concerning, especially since a lot of information is unknown to why this is happening, but it is not seen as a threat to local citizens.
London Police have yet to lay any charges or identify a suspect to these arrow shootings.
