Chick-Fil-A Is Officially Coming To Toronto This Year, Here's Where They'll Be

After booming success in the United States, Chick-Fil-A is coming to Canada. That's right, Chick-Fil-A officially announced where their first-ever Toronto location will be. This is exciting news not only for Toronto Chick-Fil-A fans but also for the company, who will be making their first-ever franchisee-owned international expansion* with this store in Canada.
According to the fast-food chain's website, the new Toronto location will be located at 1 Bloor Street East. This is right at the corner of Yonge and Bloor. Once open, Chick-Fil-A's neighbours in this building will include Nordstrom Rack, Bento Sushi, Starbucks, and a number of condos.
While they have yet to reveal when the opening date is, the company does say that this location will open within 2019 and when it does it will employ 75 people.
Chick-Fil-A also revealed that they are working on securing two more locations here in Ontario. They say they are working on a North York location right now as well as one in southeastern Ontario. While they don't specify where that third location is, southeastern Ontario could be referring to the Hamilton or Niagara regions.
These stores are only the first steps in Chick-Fil-A's massive GTA expansion. In the next five years, the company says they hope to open 15 more stores throughout the Toronto area and Southern Ontario.
This expansion hasn't been without controversy, however. When Chick-Fil-A first announced plans to expand into the Toronto market they were met with some backlash and protests from people who claimed the company was anti-LGBTQ.
For several years, Chick-Fil-A has been involved in a major controversy in the US, after allegations that the company had donated millions of dollars to anti-LGBTQ+ groups. The CEO of the company, Dan T. Cathy has also been criticized for publicly speaking out against same-sex marriage in the past.
Canadians even started a petition to ban Chick-Fil-A when the company announced they would be coming here, but given the new location announcement, the petition didn't seem to have any sway.
Chick-Fil-A still hasn't revealed the opening date of their 1 Bloor Street East location, but they have given out other details like what's going to be on their menu. Chick-Fil-A Toronto will be serving up the company's signature chicken sandwiches, waffle fries, all seven of their sauces, premium salads, and even a whole breakfast menu.
