A protest is being organized on Friday, Sept. 6 at 10:30 a.m. outside of Toronto's first-ever Chick-Fil-A restaurant, according to a Facebook event. A group called, Liberation T.O., are putting it together to highlight what they believe to be an anti-LGBTQ2 agenda of the company. The Chick-Fil-A Toronto restaurant will be the first in Canada.

After it was announced that a Chick-Fil-A would be opening in Canada, mixed reviews escalated all over social media and in the news about the chain's anti-LGBTQ2 politics. Some people hate the news:

While others are all for it:

There has been a decent amount of conversation about the fried chicken restaurant since they announced their location reveal a few months ago. Some people can't wait to try it to see if it is better than Popeye's, while others are organizing events to protest the company's arrival in Toronto.

The Facebook event page for the protest provides this link that outlines the reasoning and principles behind the protest, as well as reasons why Canadians should not support Chick-Fil-A.

It goes on to highlight that the fried chicken chain has donated around $5 million to anti-gay organizations. According to Think Progress, these organizations include "known hate groups" such as Marriage & Family Foundation, Exodus International, and the Family Research Council. The CEO Dan T. Cathy, is an evangelical Southern Baptist who wants married workers, according to this Forbes article, because he believes they are "more industrious and productive".

According to Forbes, Chick-Fil-A asks operator license applicants to provide details about their "marital status, number of dependents and involvement in community, civic, social, church and/or professional organizations."

One Chick-Fil-A operator in Baltimore told Forbes, "we are watched very closely by Chick-fil-A. It's very weird."

Narcity has reached out to Liberation T.O., who is organizing the protest in Toronto. We will update the article when we hear back from them.
