As if we needed any more reasons to love Fred VanVleet. The beloved Toronto Raptor made an appearance at a local Toys “R” Us on December 4, 2019, to take a bunch of Starlight children on a shopping spree they won’t soon forget.
During his appearance, VanVleet took time to sign a bunch of autographs and pose for some adorable photos with his young fans before walking them through the store and treating them all to some well-earned gifts for the holiday season.
“An unending thank you to Fred VanVleet and Toys “R” Us Canada for inviting Starlight children to meet with the NBA champion, get autographs and go on a shopping spree,” Starlight tweeted about the event.
However, Fred didn’t just give the kids a few presents and hit the road. He also allowed them to play a little one-on-one ball against him.
In a video of the moment, the point guard can be seen playfully outmaneuvering a young fan before dunking on him, which VanVleet then jokes is “his first dunk.”
The NBA star made a similar appearance at Chalkfarm Public School in North York earlier this year.
During the event, Freddie surprised a group of unexpected students, who couldn’t believe that their adopted local hero was paying them a visit.

VanVleet has earned quite a legendary reputation in Toronto over the last couple of years.
Between his role in helping the Raptors, his nomination for Sixth Man of the Year in 2018, and his unbeatable partnership with Pascal Siakam, Fred has become something of a household name in the 6ix.
Thankful, VanVleet seems to love Toronto as much as we love him.

"We love it here. My kids love it. My daughter is a dual citizen. I definitely could see myself living here for a long, long time. Canada is really like a second home for us. This has grown into a place that we love to be,” VanVleet gushed about Toronto back in September.
