Summer festival season is in full force and from live music to insane food trucks, there is really something for everyone to attend. But what about our dogs? If your canine companion has a serious case of FOMO, don't worry: this free dog festival outside of Toronto has got you covered.
Peterborough's annual Pawtacular event is totally free and will take place on July 27. It features dog-focused activities, food, live entertainment, games, vet services, and an array of specialty dog-based vendors. Less than two hours from Toronto, this is an event you won't want to miss!
Danielle McIver, one of the event's organizers, tells Narcity that Pawtacular is more than just a pet-friendly festival - it is truly a festival for dogs, and people love that.
"They love being able to have activities that their family pet can actually participate in, instead of just watch," says McIver.
This year, the festival will be held outdoors in Nicholls Oval Park, to provide a more open, inviting environment. You can pamper your furry friend with a nail trim or let them dive in the ball pit for treats.
Also available at this year's festival are microchip and rabies clinics, DIY dog toy workshops, large play areas, lure courses, professional pet photography, and much more.
The photography sessions cost $40 for an hour which will leave you with about 15-20 quality photos of your pup. Proceeds from the photos go to the Peterborough Humane Society.
Last year, the photography sessions raised nearly $300, an accomplishment they hope to double at this year's festival.
For safety purposes, before attending you will have to fill out a waiver for your dog(s). The waiver can be found on the Pawtacular website.
