Lowry Opens Up About His Kids’ Adorable Reactions To The Raptors Championship Win

Things don’t get much sweeter than winning an NBA Championship, except maybe having your family there to celebrate with you. The Kyle Lowry kids shared a beautiful moment with their dad after the Raptors' historic Game 6 win. It was a moment that the player and his kids will likely never forget. In a new interview with Sports Illustrated, Lowry revealed that his sons Karter, 7, and Kameron, 3, were waiting patiently for their father in the hallway outside the Raptors locker room after the game.

The Raptors veteran admitted that his youngest son wasn’t quite old enough to understand what his dad and his teammates had just accomplished, but his oldest was. “Kameron just likes to play in the confetti,” joked Lowry. Karter, however, knew what the season had meant to his father. During the celebration, Lowry pulled him close and told his first-born, “We did it.”

And it wasn’t just his kids that Lowry connected with that night. After celebrating, Lowry sat down in the locker room and began responding to the 650 text messages that he received from friends and family congratulating him on the historic win. The player responded to nearly all of them, finishing well after 5:00 AM. According to him, it's just about being grateful.

“I always do,” Lowry told Sports Illustrated. “People that text you are thinking about you, so why not reach out to them and say, ‘thank you’ or ‘I appreciate it’?”

Lowry and his wife Ayahna Cornish-Lowry first moved to the GTA back in 2012 after the player was traded to the Raptors by the Houston Rockets. Earlier this month, Lowry sat down with ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski where he revealed how much his wife and kids have grown to love Toronto. So much so, that they've enrolled their children in school in the city. Lowry says he and his family have built a life here and want to stay in Toronto long-term.

“You know, it’s part of our family now. We’d have been leaving home,” Lowry said.
