On Sunday afternoon, just after the Blue Jays blew an 8-1 lead to lose 10-9, fans thought their moods couldn't get any worse. Then, news broke out that the Blue Jays had traded their starting pitcher to the New York Mets. Fans were really upset about the Marcus Stroman trade and immediately took to social media to vent. Many of them are even calling for General Manager Ross Atkins and President Mark Shapiro to be fired. The Blue Jays have made it clear that they are in rebuild mode right now but fans seem furious about what the Jays got in return for their All-Star pitcher.

Stroman is having an outstanding year, holding a 2.96 ERA rating and only giving up 10 home runs in the 21 games he's pitched this year. Having put up great numbers all season and for most of his career, one would think the return on a Stroman trade would be pretty significant. However, fans aren't convinced that the Blue Jays got anything worthwhile for their beloved pitcher.

In return, the Jays got 24-year-old prospect Anthony Kay, who has a 6.61 ERA rating in AAA. The Jays also got 18-year-old Simeon Woods-Richardson, who played with the Mets' A team and is a long way from becoming a major league pitcher.

Jays fans clearly think that this was one of the worst trades made since Atkins took over as GM. They even started a using a Twitter hashtag calling for Atkins and Shapiro to be fired:

Stroman was drafted by the Jays in 2012 and has been a huge part of the team ever since. He made it known that he wanted to remain a Blue Jay for the years to come, but his career in Toronto has come to an end.

Stroman had a heartfelt message for his Canadian fans after the news broke and his fans were quick to return the love.

As sad as they are right now, Stroman's fans replied with appreciative words and thank you's for everything he's done as a Blue Jay.
