If you’re in the GTA area and don’t have anything planned for this weekend, I have great news for you! Grab your oldest trainers, grab your rain coat and grab your dog … There’s a puppy party happening in Lions Park called the Newbarket Dog Festival, and you do not want to miss it!
For pet-owners, dog-lovers, and pretty-much everyone who likes spending time in the great outdoors, there is a one-of-a-kind dog festival happening in Newmarket this weekend, and it sounds pretty paw-some! According to the official event page, the festival will feature more than 60 dog and pet related vendors, as well as an outdoor pool for puppers, and a diving show performed by 'professional' Aqua Dogs!
The “New’bark’et” festival will open their gates at 10 a.m. on Saturday morning, and there will be activities happening throughout the weekend. The event continues into Sunday, finishing on both days at around 4 p.m. As well as a puppy paddling pool and a massive selection of vendors, the festival will also feature a live DJ, face painting for kids, and plenty of other family-friendly activities.
It is also the perfect place to take your furry friend for a day out, as the festival welcomes puppers of all kinds, and even has a specific off-leash area for your fluffy family to stretch their legs and socialize!
If you have always considered your pet to be a one-of-a-kind sports-dog, the festival is also offering ‘lure courses’ for a small additional fee. This will give your pupper the opportunity to try their paw at lure racing, a sport that involves chasing a mechanically operated lure!
According to the New’bark’et website, there will also be a professional puppy-photographer on site, ready to take some in-action shots of your dogs having fun!
While there is an additional fee for activities such as the puppy-pool and professional photos, there is no overall entry fee for the event, making it the perfect weekend activity, especially if you have a furry face in your family!
