The Raptors Dance Crew Is Having Open Auditions This Month & Anyone Can Apply

Now's your chance to prove that you have what it takes!

Have you ever watched the North Side Crew perform at a Raptors game and got mildly envious because of how much fun it looks? I know I have. Now, you can see if you have what it takes to be part of their co-ed dance troupe for the upcoming season. The Raptors North Side Crew auditions are this month!

On Saturday, July 20th, 2019, the Raptors dance crew is inviting both female and male dancers to try out. They're looking for "captivating" and "versatile" performers of all training backgrounds who are able to learn choreography.

Registration starts at 11:00 AM for women on July 20th,  and the audition will be held inside Scotiabank Arena through Gate 1. So, even if you don't get a spot on the squad, you'll still get to dance in the arena! Men's registration is at 2:30 PM and final callbacks will be held that same day at 5:00 PM.

Dancers should arrive camera ready and prepared to learn a "basic Hip Hop/Jazz Funk routine." "Dancers who advance will be asked to perform 4-6 eight counts of freestyle choreography highlighting strengths and specialties," reads the description.

Dancers must be 18 or older to apply and are encouraged to showcase their individual style through their dance attire. A resume and current headshot are also mandatory for the application.

You'll be evaluated not just for your dance ability, but also for "enthusiasm, energy, personality and showmanship." If you're chosen, rehearsals are only three nights a week and you'll get to dance at over 41 regular season home games!

You can pre-register by emailing your headshot and resume to amberley.waddell@mlse.com. Good luck!
