Just in time for International Women's Day, Toys "R" Us and Barbie are kicking off an incredible partnership program to encourage girls and young women to reach for the stars.  To celebrate Barbie turning the big 6-0 (she's held up well after all these years, hasn't she?), Toys "R" Us Canada will be hosting Olympic skater Tessa Virtue in Toronto. Virtue's appearance is part of a series of special in-store meet and greets throughout Canada with prominent Canadian role models.

These women - including our very own beloved Olympic gold medalist, Tessa Virtue - have embodied Barbie's philosophy of working hard to achieve even your wildest dreams.  These special guest appearances are launching this month as an interactive segment of Barbie's "You Can Be Anything" campaign, reminding Barbie-lovers everywhere that no dream is too big, no idea is too wild, and no possibility is out of reach.

On Saturday, March 9th, customers across Canada will be offered the exclusive experience to personally meet these inspirational female role models and participate in activities related to the new Barbie Role Model collection.

Tessa Virtue is among the most well-known guests to be appearing at Toys "R" Us locations this weekend. She'll be at the Etobicoke store, located at 690 Evans Drive this Saturday, March 9th at 1:00 PM. Virtue's appearance is exclusive to TRU Canada R Club members - you can sign up for your membership here.

The collaboration between Barbie and Toys "R" Us Canada will emphasize the unique skills and talents of Canadian women to promote success among women in a vast assortment of industries.  From chefs to robotic engineers, these role models represent the diverse range of roles that successful females (including Barbie herself) have adopted, especially within the last decade.

Toys "R" Us will also be hosting a fun-filled Barbie bash at its 82 stores nation-wide to celebrate Barbie's 60th anniversary.  The events will feature cookie decorating, an interactive play place with the entire collection of Barbie's newest dolls, and a free Barbie "60 years of careers" poster.
