Ontario Experienced An Earthquake Last Night And Here's Where It Hit
Ontario isn’t exactly the place you would expect to experience some kind of natural disaster phenomenon. It’s far from either coast of the country so there’s no real chance of things such as tsunamis, or hurricanes and it’s pretty rare to hear about a forest fire in the province.
But last night there was one such phenomenonin Ontario last night. An earthquake, yes you read that right actually shook areas of the province while many were asleep.
So where exactly did this happen and how big was it exactly?
The earthquake originated in Amherstburg, which is in Southern Ontario just south of Windsor at around 8 o’clock last night.
The quake was quite small it seems, only 3.6 magnitude, and no one has reported any injures or serious damage to buildings luckily.
People could apparently feel the earth shake as far away as Detroit though, which shows that this wasn’t quite as small as it may appear.

You might be surprised to learn that Canada gets over 4,000 earthquakes a year on average, but only about 50 of those are ever actually felt by people because most of them happen in areas where no one lives.
Most of those earthquakes happen on the west coast though so it’s really very rare for something like this to happen in Ontario.
Let’s all just be happy that it wasn’t big an no one was hurt by it.
