Ontario Lottery Winner Just Had The Most Heartwarming Reaction To Winning

If you're ever lucky enough to win the Ontario lottery, let's hope you react as wholesomely as Michael Ivanchenko. The 63-year-old father of three, who lives in Oakville, earned $100,000 earlier this month after buying a $1 encore ticket. He immediately decided that he was going to use it to surprise his wife for Valentine's Day.

Ivanchenko told OLG that he immediately busted into what he describes as his "happy dance" after getting the good news.

"The cashier started doing the happy dance, too," said Ivanchenko.

Michael won big after he managed to match the last six digits of a seven number pull during the February 8, 2020, Lottario draw. He bought his winning ticket at Abbeywood Convenience on Abbeywood Drive in Oakville.

He immediately texted his daughters the good news but kept his winnings a secret from his wife.

After all, it was a week away from Valentine's day, and what better gift for your partner than $100,000?

"I texted my daughters and told them to keep it a surprise for my wife for Valentine's Day," he added.

According to OLG, Ivanchenko finally told his wife via text, instructing her to buy a dress and pick tickets to any show she wanted to see.

Michael's partner, who was understandably hesitant at first, told him they couldn't afford that before he responded, "Yes, we can," and told her the good news.

The happy couple plans to travel to Las Vegas and upgrade their vehicle with their winnings while sharing the rest with their children.

"For us, it's amazing. I just had open-heart surgery, and this is a great way to celebrate my wellness and getting through this difficult surgery," Ivanchenko said about his winnings.

Another heartwarming tale of Lottery glory occurred back in January after Adlin Lewis, a credit risk manager from Brampton, Ontario, won a whopping $70 million after purchasing a Lotto Max ticket.
