Ontario Place Is Getting Transformed Into An Epic Public Park

Skyscrapers and high-rises might be popping up left, right and centre throughout Toronto, but the Ontario government has some big plans for plenty of natural green space for Torontonians looking to get more of the great outdoors.

In a press release announced early Tuesday morning, the Government of Ontario has released proposed plans for an urban green space at the continually-revamped Ontario Place.

The new project, called the Celebration Common, is slated to be a "flexible green space" the size of 14 football fields!!

Designed to be an open and public arena "for open-air cultural activities, festivals, community events and recreation," the 20-acre Celebration Common will be located at the East Island of Ontario Place.

Connecting Ontario Place's West Island, with the new Trillium Park, William G. Davis Trail, and Cinesphere, the new green space will include pedestrian and bike trails that will give all visitors access to all of the island's best features.

The goal of this sure-to-be hot new project is to transform the East Island of Ontario Place into "a year-round, public destination" that serves as a "cultural and recreational destination for people in Ontario, welcome visitors from around the world and boost the local economy."
