You Can Skate Along A Frozen Cranberry Trail Beneath the Stars In Ontario This Winter
Winter is coming and Ontario is one of the best places to be during this season. The province turns into a sparkling wonderland filled with magical places to explore and fun things to do. While cuddling up inside with a hot mug of cocoa is always appealing, it's nice to get outdoors and experience the snowy magic of winter. It's time to start sharpening those skates because a stunning skating trail is opening soon and it's the most enchanting winter adventure ever. Ontario's cranberry Ice Trail will take you through a glimmering frozen paradise this year.
Muskoka Lakes Farm & Winery is located about two and a half hours from Toronto. It's widely known for its incredible cranberry marshes and the Cranberry Plunge which allows you to wade through thousands of floating berries. While harvest may be over, that doesn't mean you can't still enjoy the beauty of these little berries!
Each winter, the cranberry marsh freezes, creating the perfect place for a scenic skating trail. This 1.2 km ice path takes you around twelve acres of frozen cranberries and snowy forests. Spend an afternoon drifting through this frosty wonderland for a memorable winter experience. You can enjoy the rink during the day and even at night.
Every Saturday night, the Ice Trail is illuminated with four-hundred tiki torches for a magical skate beneath the stars.
No matter when you go, you can indulge in some delicious wintery food and warm up by the fire after your skate. Sip on some toasty mulled wine or cran-apple cider, and treat yourself to the gourmet grilled cheese with all the cranberry fixings.
The ice rink is set to open on December 27, 2019, weather permitting. There are skates available to rent, as well as a Bog Hockey Acre where you can actually skate on top of a frozen cranberry bed. Dust off your blades and get ready for the most enchanting ice adventure this winter.
