Parts Of Southern Ontario Will See 80 Km/Hour Winds And Up To 10 Cm Of Snow Today

Southern Ontario will see 80 km/hour winds, up to 10 cm of snow and intense winter weather today.

Brutal winter weather is not done tearing through Ontario just yet. There ain't no rest for the wicked because parts of Southern Ontario will see 80 km/hour winds and up to 10 cm of snowfall today. Environment Canada has issued a special weather warning for several parts of Southern Ontario today. They warn that "blustery winter weather" is coming today to the province.

Strong winds, snowfall, cold winter weather and more are all coming to Southern Ontario today. We're honestly just counting down until summer at this point and staying camped indoors.

"Strong westerly winds gusting to near 70 km/h are expected to whip up any freshly fallen snow today resulting in sudden very low visibility in blowing snow in some areas," warns Environment Canada in their weather alert. "A few wind gusts to 80 km/h are possible near Lake Huron, especially over the Bruce Peninsula".

Environment Canada warns that isolated power outages could even occur due to the strong winds. However, not only are there intense wind gusts coming to Southern Ontario, but even more snowfall is on its way.

Some areas of Southern Ontario will be hit with up to 10 cm of snowfall. "Flurries will give 2 to 5 cm of fresh new snow to most areas, with a few locally higher amounts of 5 to 10 cm possible especially over areas east of Georgian Bay," warns Environment Canada

Cold temperatures are also in store for Southern Ontario. For instance, in the upcoming few days, it will feel as cold as -18°C in Toronto, according to The Weather Network. In Muskoka, temperatures this weekend will feel as cold as -16°C.

  • Belleville - Quinte - Northumberland
  • Burk's Falls - Bayfield Inlet
  • Dufferin - Innisfil
  • Dunnville - Caledonia - Haldimand
  • Grey - Bruce
  • Huron - Perth
  • Kingston - Prince Edward
  • Niagara
  • Parry Sound - Muskoka
  • Simcoe - Delhi - Norfolk
  • Waterloo - Wellington

Environment Canada is warning drivers to be extremely careful on the roads, as conditions will be dangerous. "Poor winter driving conditions are expected. Untreated roads will become snow covered, icy and slippery," reads the alert from Environment Canada. "Motorists should allow extra time to reach their destination".
