People Under 25 Can Get Free Tickets To TIFF Movies This Weekend

There's good news for movie-lovers and film buffs this weekend, so cancel your brunch plans! TIFF Next Wave FestivalĀ is on right now and if you're under 25 years old then you can see tons of movies absolutely free. Also, if you're a post-secondary student over 25 years old, just bring your student ID with you and you can see any of theĀ TIFF Next Wave Official Selection films for free, too!Ā  This is your chance to catch some of your favourite movies on the big screen and give Netflix a break.

The festival is even having an opening night party where the tickets are just 11.50 if you're under 25. There will be live Battle of the Scores competition where six bands perform an original soundtrack for three short films. This totally unique blend of music and film will have you really anticipating the TIFF festival!

All of the films in the festival are chosen by the TIFF Next Wave Committee which is a group of teenagers aged 15 to 18 with a demonstrated love of film who want to work in the industry. Among them are aspiring filmmakers, actors and writers! Many of them are aspiring filmmakers, actors, writers and organizers! This year, programming has an emphasis on young women. These youth-approved films highlight themes like coming-of-age, identity, sexuality, social justice and more.Ā

The TIFF Next Wave Festival is running this weekend from Friday, February 15 to Sunday, February 17. Regular screenings are totally free if you're under 25 years old or a post-secondary student. Tickets cost $14 for regular, +25 admission. Films screen at the TIFF Bell Lightbox at 350 King West in Toronto.
