In October 2018, Waterloo Regional Police collaborated with Provincial Strategy partners to arrest 10 individuals connected to an ongoing child pornography investigation.  The case involved the illegal distribution and possession of child exploitation material. A 29-year-old man from Waterloo, Ontario, is facing 70 criminal charges for child pornography in connection to the investigation.

Waterloo Regional Police Service's Cybercrime Unit had issued 12 search warrants at homes and vehicles throughout the region, including Kitchener, Waterloo, Cambridge, New Hamburg, Elmira, and St. Jacobs.

One of the residences in Waterloo were searched after a 29-year-old Waterloo male was identified as the suspect of the child pornography investigation.  He was subsequently charged with two counts of Possession of Child Pornography, Make Available Child Pornography, and Breach Probation offences.

Authorities located two child victims after a thorough forensic analysis was performed by police. The same Waterloo man was charged with an additional three counts each of Sexual Assault, Sexual Interference, and Make Child Pornography.

While being held in custody, Waterloo Regional Police continued to investigate the case, identifying two more victims, a child and an adult.

Ultimately, the continued forensic investigation led to the man being charged with 70 criminal offences on March 7th.  These charges included Sexual Assault, Sexual Interference, Make Child Pornography, and Voyeurism.  The man was known by his victims, and all crimes were committed in Oxford County and Kitchener.
