Overnight last night, a young man was shot twice — once each in the butt and the abdomen — on a basketball court in a Scarborough basketball shooting. When police arrived at the scene, the victim had vanished but shell casings were found. The 26-year-old man later made his way to hospital.
Toronto Police confirmed to Narcity that at just around 1:15 a.m. they received multiple calls about the sound of gunshots near a community centre in the Lawrence Avenue East and Galloway Road area. There were also reports of people running from the area.
The man sustained injuries to his lower body after being shot twice. He went to a local hospital but was later transferred to a trauma centre for treatment as his injuries were initially considered to be life-threatening.
Toronto Police Constable Jenifferjit Sidhu confirmed to Narcity that at this time the man's condition has been downgraded to non-life threatening.
It was also confirmed to Narcity by police that the man who arrived at the hospital is the victim of the shooting at the basketball court.

Police have not released an information about any possible suspects but forensic investigators are on scene collecting evidence.
This is the third reported shooting in the Scarborough area in less than a week.
