Every now and then, it's nice to get away from the bustle of the city and explore some quieter scenes. Just hours from Toronto, you'll find one of the quietest cities you'll ever visit in your life. This abandoned area is full of deserted old buildings just waiting to be explored and dined in! Silo City's bar near Toronto is the perfect destination for your next road trip.
Lying just beyond the border in Buffalo, Silo City is about a 2-hour drive from Toronto. The area was once home to a thriving grain elevator complex back in the early 1900s, but the site has since been abandoned. Today, Silo City remains an incredible place to tour and explore.
You can take tours through the towering grain elevators and enormous silos, and learn about the production history that surrounds the place. You can even tour the gorgeous Buffalo River, and enjoy the many artsy events the city offers, such as poetry readings and live music festivals.
Recently, a brand-new attraction was added to the deserted city. You can now enjoy fresh cocktails and delicious plates at the Duende Bar. It's the perfect place to rest after a day of exploration, and the unique ambience of the place is definitely worth a visit!
Inspired by the historic industrial city, Duende was built from materials salvaged from the surrounding silos. Once a 1940s office, the unique rustic bar will take you back to another era. You can enjoy items from their full bar, as well as light fare such as toasted flatbreads and pork tenderloin.
The bar also serves as an event space, and you can watch live music several times a week. It's open from Wednesday through Sunday, but be sure to check their website as hours may vary.
