An Ontario Woman Coughed On An Senior After Getting Into A Fight At A Starbucks Drive-Thru

It looks like some Ontarians are continuing to use coughing as a weapon. According to Waterloo Regional Police, an Ontario woman is facing several charges after coughing in the face of a senior citizen at a Starbucks drive-thru. The woman was reported to harass the senior after an argument broke out between the two drivers.

According to a Waterloo Regional Police news release, the 42-year-old woman was spotted getting into an argument with the senior driver while they were both waiting in line at a Starbucks drive-thru in Cambridge, Ontario.

The incident, which occurred on March 20, led to the suspect exiting her vehicle and sticking her head through the senior's car window and coughing in her face.

Police also claim that she coughed on the door handles of the car as well.

The suspect was arrested and has been charged with assault and common nuisance – endanger life.

"On March 20, 2020, Waterloo Regional Police received a report of an assault at a Starbucks located on Hespeler Road in Cambridge. A dispute occurred between the drivers of two vehicles in the drive-thru. One of the drivers exited their vehicle and approached the other vehicle to confront the occupants," read a statement from Waterloo Police.

"During the altercation, a female stuck her head inside the driver's side window and allegedly coughed in the elderly victim's face. The female also coughed on the vehicle's door handles," it added.

However, it's unclear if the suspect was ill, or had COVID-19 at the time of this incident.

As the COVID-19 pandemic continues across the province, there have been multiple incidents of Ontario's essential workers being assaulted with both coughs and spitting.

Police officers, especially, have been forced to deal with disturbing behaviour and have begun charging multiple suspects with the crime.

Just last week, police were looking for an "annoyed" customer who ended up coughing into the face of an LCBO employee because they became frustrated with the new safety measures that were put in place at the store.

Hanover police also detained and charged a 30-year-old man last week who was accused of intentionally coughing on officers "in an exaggerated way" and "indicating that he had COVID-19."
