The SoulCycle Of Rowing Is Coming To Downtown Toronto

Whether you've actually attended a class or have just seen it referenced in pop culture like Amy Schumer's recent movie I Feel Pretty, there's no way you aren't at least vaguely familiar with SoulCycle. It's essentially your average spinning class on stationary bikes, but with a unique soulful vibe and a cult-like following of devoted members in major cities across North America. From the sounds of it, Row House's new Toronto location will be the best thing since SoulCycle.

Row House is the next US-based boutique fitness concept making its way into the Toronto market. It's similar to the SoulCycle format, but with stationary rowing machines instead of bikes. The boutique rowing gym is relatively new, but growing quickly with a projected expansion of 100 new locations in the next three years.

Row House will be direct competition for SoulCycle, as they plan to set up shop in the same upscale areas like Yorkville, where places like SoulCycle and Equinox have already established their presence. According to Retail Insider, Row House has also set their sights on The Annex and Forest Hill.

Based on the probable size of their downtown studio, Row House will likely have space for 20-25 rowing machines and one instructor. The class types offer something for everyone, from high-intensity and low-impact to restorative. Their most popular ones combine an "invigorating full-body workout and cardio burn" with high-energy music and dynamic weight training exercises.

According to Row House's website, first-timers get a class for free. After that, a single class is $25 USD. Which is cheaper than SoulCycle, which charges $34 USD per class, plus $3 to rent the cycle shoes. An unlimited monthly membership to Row House is $199 USD.
