Best friends are the real baes.
The Top 10 Reasons You Should Live With Your Best Friend in Toronto

Living in Toronto can make you go a bit mental at times. The best feeling in the world is to open your door after a long day and see your best friend there with their snuggie on and snacks and movies ready to go. No matter what the day was like - you can finally breathe, refresh and know that everything is going to be okay.

Best friends provide us with pizza, love, ears to listen, Netflix, a shoulder to sleep on and truthfulness we sometimes, don't want to hear. Living with your best friend in the city gives you someone to vent to about that weirdo on the TTC or the crazy movie set you saw at Yonge and Dundas. You will always have someone to share your Toronto city experience with - for better or for worse.

1. They are always down to watch Netflix with you at the end of the day

After a busy day at work and taking the TTC home - it's time for one thing and one thing only -- Netflix! When you open that door to your humble abode, you can count on your best friend being there with snacks and sweats for you to jump into ASAP. Your cuddle buddy position has been filled for life and can never be replaced.

2. They will listen to you bitch about your co-workers for a lot longer than anyone else will

Your best friend knows more about your job at Chipotle than anyone else on the planet. They haven't seen or met all of your co-workers, but the code-names you use:"The Bro," "The Blonde Girl Who Complains" and "The Guy who Doesn't Talk" are ones they repeat and hear often. They might just be really good at tuning you out, but sometimes you just need that best friend to vent to at the end of the day.

3. You can make each other dinner

There is often that one roommate who leaves their dishes out and lets them sit in the sink for days, accumulating gunk and grime that no dish soap could ever remove. Thank God for your best friend and his or her cooking abilities. Without them, you would likely starve or eat Mr. Noodles for every meal. You can plan on making dinners for each other throughout the week and take turns with the clean-up. Clean dishes really mean true love!

4. They know everything about you and accept you at your worst

Sometimes you've got a pimple on your face the size of loonie and other days you look like a professional from Bay and Bloor. Everyone has their A+ days and their "fail" moments that only a best friend can laugh with you about. You can weep, wail and complain as soon as you get home and know that you'll be accepted and loved by your bestie.

5. They'll tell you the cold hard truth

Everyone has those fake Toronto friends that will compliment you in anything -- even if you know your outfit looks like your Great Aunt put it together for you. Sometimes you just need the truth and your best friend/roomie will give it to you. Need an outfit for that party tonight at The Drake? Ask your best friend for their opinion and you'll get the answer you might not want to hear -- but it'll be truthful. Do I look good? "Meh." Everyone's favourite response.

6. They will miss you when you're gone

As soon as you take that much needed vacation away from your best friend - they'll miss you. Having space is always a good thing when best friends live together, but the heartache and nostalgic mixed tapes begin once you disappear. Separation anxiety is a real thing and you need to get back to your house soon before your roomie catches that flick at The Bloor Hot Docs Cinema without you.

7. You can decorate together and know that compromise is always the solution

By now you know your best friends taste in music and style inside and out. She's the "basic bitch" and he's into "One Direction," but you know you can decorate your apartment together and make compromises. Let's leave that Eminem poster up (because it's a classic) and put the poster of Ed Sheeran in the bathroom. Stick a few pictures up of the two of you on your fridge and add some plants on the windowsills and it's home sweet home! There's also that IKEA just outside of Toronto that you know you are going to go to and decorate your entire house with all of its contents -- obviously.

8. You can order food and split it between the two of you (pizza every night!)

Another person in your house = another income. Your best friend probably loves pizza just as much as you. If they are on a no-gluten craze -- there are crusts for that relax. Order from Pizzaiolo and smell the decadence arrive at your door. Obviously you got breadsticks and obviously you got dip. You can have a double dip date with your bae and eat pizza like loving roommates were meant to do before earth was a thing.

9. They will always know when you need a friend to stay in with

That long walk down King Street in heels or kicks can be tiring and sometimes (pretty much every weekend really) you need a night in. Your best friend knows how much more fun it can be watching Game of Thrones together or jamming out to a secret Nickleback concert in your basement apartment. Nobody needs to know and you can practice your club shuffle by watching YouTube tutorials for next weekend. Best friends plan ahead - right?

10. You will love them like a sister/brother at the end of the day

Your best friend has been with you throughout this long walk they call "life." At the end of the day, it's that stability that you come home to and that person you are most yourself with. You will live together until you are knitting in wheelchairs looking out of that retirement window. But until then -- you can enjoy the Toronto skyline knowing that you'll always have someone to share it with.
