This 1.2-km Ice Skating Trail In A Frozen Cranberry Marsh In Ontario Opens Next Month

Ontario is your destination for winter thrills and getaways. From frozen winter wonderlands to a plethora of exciting outdoor adventures, there's always something fun to do when winter hits the Heartland. 

One of the coolest activities you can do in the province is skate through a frozen cranberry marsh. In Muskoka, the Johnston's Cranberries facility features a gorgeous 1.2-kilometre skating loop that cuts through 12 acres of cranberries. Visitors can strap on a pair of skates and glide through the scenic snow-covered area in a one-of-a-kind experience.

The trail is surrounded by the thick of a coniferous forest on one side and massive cranberry beds on the other side. Along the way, skaters can stop by a few natural waterfalls, as well as some fire pits to warm up at. At the end of their skate, they can head back to the on-site winery for some hot mulled cider or wine.

This year, the ice skating trail reopens on December 27, 2017. A trail pass is $8 per person, and skate rentals will be made available for $12 per half day. Sharpening services are also available for an additional $10.
