Although it might not feel like spring out just yet, we can all tell that the warm weather is just around the corner. March is notorious for teasing us with a few warm days and then dropping huge amounts of snow on us the next week.
As much as we want winter to just give up and admit defeat we have to put up with it for at least another week until we can finally get used to sunlight and warmth being back in our lives.
But just because it's not warm out yet doesn't mean we can't start planning for when it is! This lookout tower in Ontario should be at the top of your list for spring hiking activities because it offers the most gorgeous views.
The Dorset Scenic Lookout Tower is located near Haliburton, just 2 hrs 45 mins away from Toronto. Ontario's Muskoka area is full of lush forests, crystal blue lakes and relaxing escapes and this lookout tower is the perfect way to see all of it from above!
The original tower was built back in 1922 and then re-built in 1967 and now sits 465 ft in the air offering gorgeous 360 degree panorama views! It sits right above the shimmering Lake Of Bays which is perfect for a spring, summer or fall hike.
The tower will be re-opening to the public on Victoria Day weekend which is just in time for cottage season to heat up again! You can choose to climb all the way up to the observation deck for breathtaking views or enjoy ground level lookouts which are just as gorgeous.
To walk up to the tower it only costs $1 and they encourage people to climb at their own risk since it isn't a brand new attraction and still carries a small amount of risk.
