Date nights can be hard to plan, especially in the winter months.   Sometimes you get so caught up with going for the easy option, aka staying in with your S/O and bingeing Stranger Things on Netflix (no judgment, I did it too).  But, If you're looking to mix things up and take a quick break from the city, then you're in luck.

For adventurous couples looking for an excuse to get off the couch this winter, you should definitely consider making the trip to Midland Ontario (about 2 hrs from Toronto).  Why you ask?  Because Midland is home to one of the most romantic winter festivals around, the First Light Festival.

The First Light Festival takes place at a candlelit historic site surrounded by nature.  Once entering the main building you'll be able to sample fresh baked goods, listen to live music, and take advantage of some Christmas shopping opportunities with the 20 vendors that will be on-site.

The entire site will be lit with 5000 candles, and admission will be $10.00 / person with a donation of a non-perishable food item! So if you're looking for something new to do this winter, head to the Sainte-Marie among the Herons on December 1-3 & 8-10, 5:30 p.m. to 9:00 p.m!
