If you're looking for a festive place to road trip to this holiday season, you should definitely put London, Ontario on your list. Every year, the city plans awesome holiday-themed events during the weeks leading up to Christmas, and one of them will have you walking through a winter wonderland.
Victoria Park is a green space in the downtown area that becomes adorned with colourful lights in December as part of an annual "Lighting of the Lights" tradition. More than 75,000 lights are strung up high in the trees, and festive displays from Santa's sleigh and a manger scene are set up at various locations in the park.
The park is also nearby a skating rink, so guests can strap on a pair of skates and hit the ice while enjoying the magical atmosphere.
If bearing the cold isn't your thing, you could always opt to view the lights from the Promenade Deck (located above city hall) on select evenings. There, you'll get the full panoramic view of the park, and it's absolutely amazing:
This year, the lighting ceremony will take place on December 1, 2017 at 6:50 pm, but the festivities will be open to the public as early as 6:15 pm. The park will be illuminated well into New Year's, so there's plenty of time to make a visit. The festival will also be accompanied by entertainment, refreshments, carolling, food, and even a surprise guest.
Owners of a Toronto bar are asking for help from their community following a string of recent break-ins.
Triple A Bar, located at 138 Adelaide St. E., launched a GoFundMe this week after reportedly being broken into for the third time.
The popular location took to Instagram on Wednesday to show the broken windows, doors, and other damages that the building had endured.
The fundraiser, which has already raised over $5,000, aims to help the restaurant get back on its feet after a difficult year.
"After this last break in (and hopefully it will be the last - this is our third) we had many reach out to see how we are, offering help, and some had even suggested starting one of these for us," an excerpt from the GoFundMe reads. "We are not sure what the future holds, but we are optimistic and are trying to hold on."
