This Photo Of Toronto In The 1950s Shows Streetcars Have Always Been A Pain

Photo cred - Reddit

Riding on a streetcar through even moderately busy traffic can be one of the most frustrating experiences in the world. Being able to see your stop, just a few feet away, but knowing that you won't get to it for an obscenely long time because the streetcar is trapped behind 6 cars.

Even worse is a streetcar chain, in which a whole bunch of streetcars get trapped one behind the other, and no one is moving. You may think this is a byproduct of our modern traffic levels, but as the picture above shows, that is not the case. Streetcar pileups have been going on since at least the '50s. They've been here long before we were, and they'll be here long after we're gone. Just accept it.
