Every true animal lover dreams of going on a safari in Africa one day. There's undoubtedly no better place in the world to see the Big 5 than the savannahs of the Serengeti; however, if a trip to Tanzania isn't an option, you can still get an epic safari experience... in Canada.

African Lion Safari is one of the most iconic attractions in the country. The privately-owned park is a founding member of the Canada's Accredited Zoos and Aquariums, which is committed to advancing accredited zoos and aquariums as humane agencies of animal welfare, conservation, science and education.

For close to 50 years, the park has worked tirelessly to care, protect and conserve several endangered African species. In fact, it is internationally recognized for its top-tier breeding initiatives, valiant conservations efforts, and groundbreaking R&D advances in animal science.

But the park is also committed to connecting people to nature, and it achieves this through its safari tours. Guests will see over 1,000 species of birds and animals, from cranes and vultures to lions, cheetahs, antelope, camels, elephants, zebras, kangaroos, primates, giraffes and rhinos.

The main tours involve a drive through the reserves in your own vehicle, or on a special Safari Tour Bus complete with educational commentary. Both options travel on a 9-km trail that winds through 750 acres of free-roaming space.

But there's also a private safari tour option that takes you behind the scenes before the park opens to the public. The Wake Up The Wild attraction is a VIP experience that is not available anywhere else in Canada. It allows participants go off-roading beyond the trail in an open-air truck to get up close and personal to animals like rhinos, zebras and ostriches.  They can also witness a pride at their most active time of day, and even hand feed Canada's largest herd of giraffe! An expert Game Warden will guide the way as well to give the most immersive animal experience possible.
