Top 9 Toronto Food Events Worth Checking Out This Month

In a city as diverse as Toronto, you don't have to venture far to find a whole world of flavours.

From locally owned hole-in-the wall joints to massive international food festivals, The 6ix is not lacking when it comes to food, food and more food.

If you're looking for something food-related to do in November, check out these nine food events going on in Toronto this month. Some are free, some require you to pay admission or a fee, but they're all definitely worth going to.

Do: Pie

November 12th, 2-4pm

Calling all apple pie fans: An apple pie contest is being held by Trinity Bellwoods BIA on Sunday, November 12th to raise funds for the Fort York Food Bank and everyone's invited. Think you're top notch when it comes to baking pies? The contest is open to anyone for a participation fee of $10. If you like eating pie better than you like baking them, slices are available for $5 a piece.

Ocean Wise Chowder Showdown

November 14th

This event at the Fermenting Cellar brings together 14 chefs from across Canada in support of Ocean Wise sustainable seafood programs. The chefs will go 'ladle-to-ladle' in this soup cook-off as judges and visitors sample delectable original chowders. The ticket price is a steep $60 but includes chowder, complementary beer, win and spirits sampling. All proceeds directly support Ocean Wise.

Toronto Christmas Market

November 16th to December 23rd – closed on Mondays

Everyone's favourite market of the year is back, and it's bringing enough food to fill Santa's sleigh 10 times over. Dozens of stalls will line the Distillery District, offering chocolate, beer, Christmas-themed treats and cozy meals to everyone. Get ready to stuff your face with hot cider, shortbread, sausages and peppermint-flavoured goodies.

FĂȘte Chinoise

November 18th, 1:00pm

Are you ready for a party? On November 18th, FĂȘte Chinoise will be transforming the entire third floor of the Shangri-La Hotel into a luxurious gala complete with cocktails and curated food stations. The theme of this year's event is Luck & Ritual, which weaves together century-old traditions with a contemporary experience. Tickets start at a steep $120 and go up from there, but according to EventBrite, you leave with a gift bag worth over $300 in value.

Lady Beer Fest

November 18th

Are you a woman? Do you love beer? Canada's all-ladies craft beer event is back at Peace & Cotton Warehouse this year and it looks like a heck of a good time. General admission costs just $35 and includes includes a commemorative sample glass, four drink tokens and a ‘Morning After’ gift bag. Want more beer? The event's VIBDL (Very Important Beer Drinking Lady) pass costs $75 and includes a glass, eight drinks tokens, a swag bag, another swag bag and access to a private washroom and lounge. Lady Beer Fest also supports the Canadian Women's Foundation, with some proceeds going directly to the charity.

Crafts Beer Market

November 25th, 11am to 6pm

The only thing better than Christmas shopping is Christmas shopping with a beer in hand. If that sounds like something you'd enjoy doing, then you'll definitely enjoy Black Oak Brewery's first ever Crafts Beer Market. Tickets are a mere $10 each and includes a token for one free beer, with 50% of ticket proceeds being donated to a local charity.

Fried Chicken Battle

November 27th, 8pm

The Drake Hotel's fifth annual Fried Chicken Battle sees Rose & Sons, The County General, Rickshaw Bar, Indie Ale House and The Gabardine face off fried food-style in this fundraiser for the Stop Community Food Centre. Admission is free for the chance to get your hands on some samples, and then vote for your favourite.

The Cheesecake Factory Grand Opening

November 21st

Perhaps the most anticipated food event of the year, The Cheesecake Factory's grand Canadian opening will take place at Yorkdale Shopping Centre on November 21 - finally. If a menu of over 50 different types of cheesecakes excites you, then you'll want to get here early, a massive line is expected on opening day.

Gourmet Food and Wine Expo

November 16th-19th

This four-day food and drink expo at the Convention Centre lets you try all different kinds of wine, beer, cocktails and food. Tickets start at $20 and are available both online and at the door.

Ferrero Rocher: Give Layers of Thoughtfulness Pop-Up

November 24th- December 24th

Ferrero Rocher will be holding a pop-up at Yorkdale Mall all holiday season long. The pop up aims to inspire holiday shoppers to find ways to give thoughtfully as well as allows customers to purchase Ferrero products. Expect to get educated on the manufacturing and craftsmanship that goes into making the chocolates since a famous chocolatier will be on sight to dish on all the intricate details.
