In heartbreaking news, a Toronto dog owner Alberta Bakker is asking for the public's help in locating her beloved dog after he was reportedly stolen from her lap on the TTC yesterday. In a Facebook post that has been shared over 100 times, Baker has posted photos of her dog Malachi in hopes to be reunited with her furry friend. If anyone has information of Malachi's whereabouts they are asked to contact the Toronto police.

Bakker has confirmed to Narcity that she got onto the Yonge-University line yesterday at Eglinton station with her dog Malachi, where she ended up falling asleep at Rosedale station. When Bakker woke up at St. Andrew station she was devastated to find that both her dog and iPad were missing.

However, Bakker claims that she does not care about the missing iPad and is solely focused on getting her dog back. Malachi is an 8-year-old chihuahua and jack russell terrier mix. His ID number is 833842. Baker states that she has already contacted police and animal services about Malachi's disappearance.

Malachi is light-brown in colour with short fur. He was last seen wearing a light grey sweater with 'Mama's Boy' written across the top in bold black lettering. He was also wearing a brown harness at the time of his disappearance.

Bakker has posted multiple photos of Malachi through Facebook in hopes to help the public recognize him if spotted. You can see the following photos below.

Sadly, this isn't the first time a dog has been stolen in the Toronto area this week. Narcity reported earlier this week that a dog owner in the east end was searching for their Siberian Husky that was stolen outside of a Toronto Value Village.

Charlie the husky was taken outside of the Value Village at Woodbine & Danforth this past Tuesday when his owner left him outside to run a quick errand. According to police, two men approached the dog while a woman untied Charlie's leash. They quickly left the area by food towards a Green P parking lot.

The owner offered a $200 reward for the safe return of Charlie and police confirmed on May 16 that the dog had been reunited with its owner after a Good Samaritan had spotted two suspects walking along the Toronto Beaches boardwalk on Thursday.

Bakker is hoping her story will have a similar ending. Anyone with information on Malachi's whereabouts is asked to contact police.

UPDATE: Alberta Bakker's dog was found safely several hours later by a woman near Eaton Centre.
