Celebrate Toronto Is Hosting A Massive 2-Day Party In Honour Of The City's 185th Birthday Today
Tender beef, cheddar cheese, Betty White, and Toronto have a lot in common. How? They all seem to get better and better with the progression of time. You have to admit that at the ripe age of 185, our beautiful city of Toronto could inarguably give all of those young and "perky" Canadian cities a run for their money.
Although she boasts the jubilant spirit of a youngster, today, March 6th, 2019, marks the 185th anniversary of Toronto's incorporation back in 1834. In typical Toronto-fashion, Torontonians will be revelling in the celebration of the city's advanced age for the rest of the week.
If you're interested in joining the city's big birthday bash, you're in luck. Celebrate Toronto is hosting a gigantic 2-day FREE party this weekend (March 9th and 10th) at Nathan Phillips Square to honour the milestone.
The Celebrate Toronto festival will run from 11:00 AM to 9:00 PM both Saturday and Sunday. It will showcase tons of Toronto-based food trucks and shopping outlets, plus a DJ skate party hosted by DJ Caff and a live dance show.

Guests can also send Toronto a special birthday wish through the festival's interactive display, where Torontonians can leave their mark for T.O.'s 185th birthday.
Once you're finished partying it up, Celebrate Toronto guests can support the Daily Bread Food Bank by donating a non-perishable food item. Special Celebrate Toronto toques can also be purchased in support of the food bank.
"Not only does this festival shine a spotlight on the vibrant nature of this city, but it also highlights the generosity of Torontonians," Neil Hetherington, CEO of Daily Bread Food Bank, said in a statement. "When it comes to bringing communities together, Celebrate Toronto really hits the mark."
"The anniversary of our city is a cause for celebration, a time to reflect on many accomplishments and an opportunity to look with new hope to a future of new possibilities," Mayor John Tory said in a statement.
