14 Netflix Movies & Shows Leafs Stars Love So You Can Binge Like The Pros

Now's the perfect time for a puckload of Netflix.

If the lack of hockey right now has you feeling bored beyond be-leaf, don't worry. We've rounded up 14 of the Toronto Maple Leafs' favourite Netflix shows and movies so you can binge like the pros. It may not be the NHL action you're dreaming of, but this Toronto team has some pretty good taste in entertainment.

Leading up to this year's Oscars, an article in The Athletic gave us all some insight into what these hockey players are watching off the ice.

Whether you're looking for binge-worthy TV dramas, classic sitcoms, heart-wrenching films, or silly comedies, the Leafs have you covered.

And as most of us are practicing social distancing right now, throwing on your favourite player's most-loved show is as close as many of us will get to actually hanging out with the team.

Hey, we'll take what we can get, right?

So if you're feeling stuck for what to watch — or re-watch — while you're spending more time at home, why not check this list out?

Some of the inclusions may even surprise you.

Who knows, you could have more in common with these sports stars than you knew.

Family Guy

Rating: 8.1/10 IMDB

Why You Need To Watch It: While spending the cutest weekend in with his partner, Kasperi Kapanen shared a video of himself taking in some Family Guy. You can never go wrong with a little animated humour.

Friends

Rating: 8.8/10 IMDB

Why You Need To Watch It: Ilya Mikheyev watches Friends (probably while eating soup) as a way to learn English. How sweet is that?

Suits

Rating: 8.5/10 IMDB

Why You Need To Watch It: Leafs starting goalie Frederik Andersen says Netflix relaxes him. He loved seeing parts of Toronto in the locally-filmed Suits and, to be honest, so did we.

Catch Me If You Can

Rating: 8.1/10 IMDB

Why You Need To Watch It: If you love Tom Hanks as much as Tyson Barrie does, then you need to add this movie to your (re)watchlist.

You

Rating: 7.8/10 IMDB

Why You Need To Watch It: Though he admits watching Joe Goldberg be a total creep is a little difficult, Auston Matthews said he feels obligated to watch season two of the hit series. So, now, so do we.

Seven Pounds

Rating: 7.6/10 IMDB

Why You Need To Watch It: If you're looking for something emotional and hard-hitting, then join Travis Dermott in watching and loving this Will Smith movie.

Inception

Rating: 8.8/10 IMDB

Why You Need To Watch It: Both Justin Holl and Andreas Johnsson are pretty big fans of this movie. Johnsson even said in an interview for The Athletic that "I've probably seen it 10 times. If I have nothing to do, and it comes on, I'm like, 'Oh, I need to see this.'" Fair play, AJ.

Stranger Things

Rating: 8.8/10

Why You Need To Watch It: We already know Zach Hyman and his wife are pretty adorable, and if their epic Halloween costumes were any indication, we bet they've binged all of Stranger Things. It's never too soon for a re-watch, right?

The Dark Knight Rises

Rating: 8.4/10 IMDB

Why You Need To Watch It: Kappy says he wants to be an actor one day and Tom Hardy is someone he looks up to. So it's no surprise that The Dark Knight Rises is on his list of favourite flicks, even if it is pretty far from Family Guy as a choice.

Narcos

Rating: 8.4/10 IMDB

Why You Need To Watch It: This show is one of William Nylander's favourites. If it's good enough for the best-dressed player on the team, it's good enough for us.

That's My Boy

Rating: 5.5/10 IMDB

Why You Need To Watch It: It's no surprise that Matthews, noted Adam Sandler fan, included this movie as one of his favourites. "I can watch (Adam Sandler) movies all the time. They're such an easy watch. Those movies are right up my alley as far as comedies go," Matthews revealed to The Athletic.

Molly's Game

Rating: 7.4/10

Why You Need To Watch It: Alexander Kerfoot thinks everyone should check out this real-life story about Molly Bloom, Olympic skier, FBI agent, and poker pro.

Good Will Hunting

Rating: 8.3/10 IMDB

Why You Need To Watch It: While he enjoyed Molly's Game, Kerfoot also insists this classic movie is one of the best. How do you like them apples?

The Office

Rating: 8.8/10 IMDB

Why You Need To Watch It: Of course this is in here. When AM34 isn't busy catching up on You, he loves to just throw on The Office. Don't we all? Brb, loading Netflix.
