Have election results got you down? Do you want to go back in time to when the Raptors became champions, and all was right in the world? Well, congratulations, you’ve just hit the jackpot. The Toronto Raptors home opener tailgate party is set to kick things off right this year, with thousands of fans expected to pack into Jurassic and downtown streets to celebrate the return of their favourite team.
CBC reports that upwards of 20,000 fans will be packed inside the Scotiabank Arena tonight, which marks the team’s 237th consecutive sellout. If you couldn’t get tickets and don’t have the funds to blow your hard-earned rent money on resale tickets, you’ll be pleased to know that the tailgate party is entirely free.
So, what is new this year? Well, besides the fact that we are NBA champions and will be sporting vintage jerseys, according to The Toronto Sun, fans will also be treated to a newer, enlarged outdoor screen. The new screen aims to give fans an unbeatable look at this season’s pre-game ceremony, which will include the raising of the championship banner and the handing out of the rings.
But wait, there’s more! Fans in Jurassic Park will also bear witness to the official unveiling of the Raptors Way signs along Bremner Boulevard. Between York St. and Lake Shore West. Toronto renamed the portion of Bremner after the historic team championship run earlier this year.

Special guests, a live DJ, and of course, giveaways are all set to contribute to Tuesday night’s excitement. The park opens at 5:00 p.m. with festivities expected to kick-off a half-hour later.
It was announced early in October that the Raptors would be paying tribute to their past by hosting a series of 95 Rewind Nights. The retro-themed games will see players sport old school Raptors jerseys on a court reminiscent of the 1995 original.
