Police are now investigating an alleged Toronto subway assault that took place on Friday, January 17, 2020. The incident which was reported via Instagram reportedly occurred around 10:00 a.m. and involved a teenage girl and a York University instructor. A photo of the alleged suspect was shared in the post and the image has reportedly been linked to a faculty member of York University. However, details have yet to be confirmed by the police.
An Instagram post that followed the original statement later suggested that multiple victims have since come forward, claiming the man in the photo assaulted them as well.
It is worth noting that these details are merely speculation at this point, and neither York University nor Toronto Police Services has confirmed them.
The original post also includes a second-hand statement. In it, the victim describes the alleged assault, claiming the man "took off his jacket, put it on his lap, with his bag before putting his hands through" and groping her breast.
York University later took to Twitter to say that they were aware of the incident and had launched an ongoing investigation into the matter.
"We're aware of reports regarding an incident on the TTC allegedly involving one of our instructors. We're taking steps to investigate the matter and continue to liaise with Toronto Police Service. We take this very seriously but cannot comment further on personnel-related matters," York University issued in a Twitter statement on Friday.

Narcity reached out to York University for further information about the incident but have yet to hear back.
However, Narcity also contacted Toronto Police, who confirmed they were investigating the incident.
"There are no updates at this time. Toronto Police urge any victims to contact police or Victim Services," said Constable Jenifferjit Sidhu.
Unfortunately, cases of sexual assault on the subway have happened before Toronto.
Back in June of 2019, police were forced to issue a special alert for the city after they received multiple reports of a man groping women on the TTC.
Toronto Police are still investigating and it is still unclear what measures will be taken.
